Bring the family along for a relaxed, two-hour block printing workshop with studio holder Naila Ahmad at Arbeit Galleries – Leyton Green.
Using hand-carved wooden blocks and colourful fabric inks, families will learn to create patterns, combine colours and develop their own designs. Naila will guide participants through selecting blocks, experimenting with patterns and printing their finished pieces. Everyone will create their own printed tote bag and pencil case to take home, with all materials and equipment provided.
The workshop is designed primarily for families with children aged 10 and over, but adults are also welcome to attend together without children.
This hands-on workshop is a fun way for children and adults to create together. No previous block printing knowledge or artistic experience is required: you’ll be introduced to the process step by step, with guidance on using the blocks, working with inks and creating repeat patterns.
Important Information
Children must be 10 years old or above and must attend alongside a participating adult.
Any adult accompanying a child is also considered a workshop participant and must purchase their own ticket. Adults are not able to attend solely as spectators; they will take part in the activity alongside the child.
For example, one adult attending with one child requires 2 paid participant places. Both participants will take part in the workshop, and each will create their own tote bag and pencil case to take home.

One hand-printed tote bag per participant
One printed pencil case per participant
Traditional wooden printing blocks
Fabric inks and other workshop materials
Aprons for use during the activity
Step-by-step guidance throughout the session
