The site is part of a council project to deliver affordable workspace for existing small, independent and artistic firms in Hackney Wick while redevelopment takes place on other sites in the area, enabling these businesses to stay locally. Arbeit Studios manages the site with the Hackney Council and working in partnership with the Greater London Authority. The studios are surrounded by a lovely garden managed by Hackney Herbal.
