Le Journal Exhibition is an upcoming exhibition at Trowbridge Gardens Gallery!

The opening event will be taking place on Wednesday 12th June from 5pm - 8pm.

Exhibition Dates: 13 - 30th June, open daily from 9am - 4pm.

The exhibition "le Journal" showcases the illustrations Ali "le Jeune" Febe, East London based Communication designer, made about articles he red in journals and magazines;their themes range across geopolitics, psychology, society and economy.

Artist Statement:

I rediscovered my love for drawing combining it with that for current affairs and information, inspired by the work of illustrators such as Alessandro "Shout" Gottardo and Angelo Monne.

Wondering how they visually conveyed meanings and contents i investigated those conceptual mechanisms and made them the core of my work, developing a visual language consisting. -for each piece- in a limited colour palette the main subject is often "sculpted" from with grainy "lights" and "shadows".

The visual metaphors represented in the drawings are a good and simple example on how the design method works in general and that is there for everyone to achieve."

The artist will also be hosting a workshop on Friday 14th June from 2pm - 5pm.

Stay tuned for more information!

Silent Walk with Rachel Attfield

  • Arbeit Studios - Trowbridge Gardens (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

Rachel Attfield will be hosting Silent walk as part of the ReRooted Residency Programme in Trowbridge Gardens.

This walk is reflective of Rachel’s way of working, where taking time to be in the moment has increased awareness and connections with nature in urban surroundings. Before beginning the walk, we will do some simple movements together to focus the mind. The meditative nature of the walk can allow the business of our lives and surroundings to become quieter and offer time to notice.

Please note there will be a short walk to the beginning of the silent walk which may involve crossing some busy roads. Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather and walking on uneven surfaces.

The walk, led by Rachel Attfield reflects her practice as a craft artist and her career as a dance artist, choreographer and movement specialist. Her work explores movement found in ordinary everyday activity, particularly crafts and how these movements connect memories of past experiences and people.

Attendees should be 18 years and over, and the event is free to attend. Due to popular demand, please cancel your ticket if you cannot attend.

To reserve a place, please click here book via Eventbrite.

Inside Outside: a discussion about civilisation and nature

Inside Outside: a discussion about civilisation and nature

This talk unpicks the underlying ancient understandings which have constructed our ideas of civilisation. We start with the view that the space inhabited by people is rooted in these ideas of civilisation and still shapes our culture, society and relationship with nature. Ray will share some of the ways in which these deep-seated concepts, reflected in everyday signs and symbols, are a source for much of his work and a critique of the human relationship with nature.

Ray is an architect and musician, and some years ago directed the Urban Architecture Research Unit at Uni of North London (now London Metropolitan University). He now focuses on what he calls ‘making objects with meaning’.

Attendees should be 18 years and over, and the event is free to attend. Due to popular demand, please cancel your ticket if you cannot attend.
